Very Cool.
So is this the same one in the other thread, just with way better pics?
That does look like it was not used very often. It looks very clean.
That Calcium Carbide is some cool stuff. Gives off acetylene when wet.
I had one of those cannons when I was younger!! I always overloaded that bad boy. Wish I still had it.
Great item you picked up Bro!!
Thanks for sharing it.

Hey Philly, Same lantern but took pictures for the website. It is a very clean lantern so I am not sure I want to tamper with it of course by lighting it. What you thinking? Light it or leave it? My gut says leave it but my fingers say try it once to see if she fires. Yes...you only need 4-6 carbide nuggets and some water to light. Thanks for checking in. It will go well with the other stoves, lanterns and lights I have from the German 3rd Reich.

Here is the video of one of these in use that Gwar shared on my other post:

I watched that vid on the other thread. Very Cool.
I would leave it.
I remember that the residue from the carbide and water is a messy white paste. Yours looks to clean to have to deal with the clean up.
It is a beauty!!

how tempting! but I'd leave this one alone.

That is an interesting piece. Great pics. I would have walk passed this item just simply not knowing anything. Please post a video of lighting the lamp when you do. Have the fire department on standby JIC.

Wow, that is cool. I kinda want one now. I never knew they were that involved to get going. As clean as that one is I think I'd leave it, too. That kind of condition doesn't come along very often.

For my safety, the condition of this one and for my brother’s wisdom I will not do a test light. It is tempting but she will remain as is and not lit.
