I found this lately.
I don't know if this is a period photograph
It was really interesting to me to see troops with Artillery rucksacks in this situation.
M31 canteens are carried without cups also.
I would be very interested in your comments.

Not to go off on a tangent, but also interesting in that the soldiers are crouched behind the tank as if seeking cover while the soldier at the far right seems to be standing casually with a soft cap on his head. Could have been posed.

If I remember correctly this is a period photo from the Finnish Defence Forces' wartime archive. If you give me a minute I'll be able to go find it there

Bingo! Indeed an original shot taken on the 15th of May 1942 near the town of Louhi (Ло́ухи) in northern Karelia by Finnish war photographer Osvald Hedenström.

The original description is "'Gebirgsjägers' attack with tank cover"

Correct, it is definitely staged as are most photographs supposedly taken during a battle

the blast to the guy off to the side would have been tremendous!! I beleave it is a posed seen.

plus the field of fire is so thick with trees that the round would never hit the intended target.

Of course it is not an actual combat scene, but the tank in question is only armed with two 7,92mm machine guns - I believe the guys would've been quite used to that noise
