I think it is a German Model 1871 Leather Ammo Pouch for use with the Mauser Model 1871.

    Thank You kindly, John!
I'll have to look those up...I don't see this Type offered out there very often, let alone as a set...

Well here is a pic of a soldat from the Baden LIR 40 Ers Btln 4 Komp. with his Commission 88 with a very similar ammo pouch.

You will also note that he has a modified Chassepot bayonet . So your pouch is not a front line issue but they were used for that rifle in certain Reserve/Landwehr units.

Your just lucky that I have a Baden Landwehr Haube and a commission 88 or other wise I would not have saved that pic from when I was on the now defunct Commission88.com site

You are quite welcome Glenn. Its nice when I feel that I do add something to this site other than bad jokes or obscene pic's in funny stuff that Ralph quickly deletes. I thank him for keeping me in line!!!!

Grenadier-Regt. König Karl (5.Württembergisches) Nr.123 (Ulm) XIII Armee Korps, my wife's Uncle Alfred servered in that regiment.

My set of pouches are marked to IR 120 III battalion (Uncle Ruddy served in this one). Here some photos of my JR 120 group pouches and buckle are all marked to same regiment and battalion (Infanterie-Regt. Kaiser Wilhelm, König von Preußen (2.Württembergisches) Nr.120 (Ulm) XIII Armee Korps).Mauser Gew.88 Ammo Pouch SetMauser Gew.88 Ammo Pouch Set
