Finnish M16 Helmet

Article about: I just got this helmet. Originally a German M16 helmet, maker Eisenhuette Silesia, size 66. The liner is presumably M18 model and chinstrap a replacement? The unit is marked inside the helme

I just got this helmet. Originally a German M16 helmet, maker Eisenhuette Silesia, size 66. The unit is marked inside the helmet, it's possible that this was already in the Winter War. The three chevrons either represent a sergeant or is a unit marking.

That finnish army secret unit posting code number 3330, " 4. Rautatie Liikenne komppania" in english: "4th Railway traffic company" after 2.5.1943->

Maybe JR 6 (infantry regiment 6) dignifies helmet wearer's original home unit. JR 6 code numbers are between 3445-3476

Yes, I too thought of that and checked the peiteluku (cover number). It could also be that the peiteluku is for a Winter War unit.

Interesting helmet. The liner pads are strange, the strap looks to be from an M18 helmet.

Yup, the strap is from an M18 helmet. The pads had these markings.
