That's probably because it's designed to stay in place!

This isn't a bayonet for a Fireman, but a parade bayonet for a member of the Wehrmacht. The examples used for the Fire Service / Fire Police are similar however, they do not have the rifle slot or flashguard.

It's an authentic KS98, by Robert Klaas, probably late 1930's based on logo type used and alloy hilt.

    Hello,

this is a dress bayonet IN THE FORM of the KS98 (the correct KS98 is a different model). It is original but in worse condition.

The fire brigade's fascine knife (NOT a bayonet) has a different crossguard and no attachment device, as shown.

    Regards

Denis your purchase of nine years ago was sound, although its had a tough life by the looks of it. Do you have a scabbard for it too?
