    Hello everyone, picked up this nice Solingen Firemans K98 bayonet that was nicely "signed" by the G.I. and the date he captured it!

    I haven't seen one like it before so I had to pick it up. As always thanks for looking and let me know what you think below

    Nice Wally. Any luck tracing the GI? Probably impossible given how common the name is.

    That's very interesting with the personal markings. It would be interesting to know the circumstances. For accuracy I'll point out this is not a bayonet, but a faschinenmesser, meaning a short sword like tool. But it is private purchase and has similarities to a KS98 (like not actually ever being fitted to a rifle). The maker is Carl Schmidt & Sohn by the look of that trade mark, made in late 1930's. Nice pick up.
