A couple of early cloth insignia

A cavalry sleeve patch and (I believe) a star for an overseas cap with an embroidered hammer & sickle. I presume the star is Soviet, but perhaps not. It came from a German militaria show in 1970's or 80's but could be communist of different origin - even KPD.

Any thoughts?

Both that you show appear to me to be authentic examples from 1920X.

BTW, these are highly faked...

I would say the star looks to more to KPD,about the cavalry patch- I newer seen that kind of embroidery used on the sleeve patches. But it's hard to say about, due of 20's years uniforms and embroidery can be vary
