Not my area of expertise but never seen one with construction / stitching like this.
Anyone have any ideas?

Never seen one with such a coarse weave on the roundel material, or such excessive stitching around it.
I would want to see other examples like this before I would be willing to consider it.

This was my concern as well. Not something I have seen before. But not my area of expertise.
I do have a question for anyone regarding my concerns on the stitching - Was this style of stitching on the roundel was even possible during that era. I think I read somewhere long ago that the sewing machines that could do this were all from the post war period.
