I suspect the number on the buffer plate is either a part number or possibly an assembler's number. Nice looking cutlass Ger!

Thank you Gents for the nice words, its a great piece of art imo, great etch, lovely fire gilded hilt, those lovely Ivory gripplates and scabbard tip fitting just finishes it off beautifully.
