Hahah I’ve been checking several times a day to see if he commented! Thanks Larry... hope all is well.

I think Gerrit is lost in that " Bermuda Triangle " in his bedroom ....time to rescue him and bring him back to the forum.
I will send a WRF Bat Signal in the sky for him to reply.

Hahah thanks Larry...
I’ve been researching this hirschfanger myself. I believe the stag grips are going to be post war... as well as the slotted screw fitting on top of the pommel. Everything else looks good I think... as long as the scabbard is green. It looks black in the photos but seller said it has a greenish tint.
Still would love to hear Gerrit’s take on it.

FYI ....he saw the bat signal I sent him from my phone

back from a few triangles
You dont want this HF in your collection, like my beloved Pat Benatar sings: you better run!
This logo is etched, the entire dagger is imo postwar.
There is a bit of a golden rule regarding Hirschfänger pre 1945, the logo most be stamped, and not etched.
There are a few exceptions, for example Pack always etched their logo's.
I have owned several Hörster DJS HF, all with stamped logos.

Ahhh thanks Gerrit!
I didn’t know about the stamped/ etched logo. I was leaning towards it being post war, at least a few parts anyway.
Thanks again, see you at the triangle! Grin
Thanks also to Larry!
