Buckle makers rarity

Hello I never really knew that much about the makers of many German belt buckles which manufacturers are harder to find and more desirable also please elaborate or the reason that this maker is so uncommon or hard to find thanks in advance

I think this comes down to the collectors own preference and area of collecting. For instance for a long time I collected nothing buckle Heer buckles, what was a one off and rare and desirable to me was nothing but a worn old buckle to someone else. For example this Carl Balmberger buckle is the only one I have ever seen, is it rare, is it desirable? At the time it was to me. Hope this makes sense
