Need help Identifying a Belt Buckle, if its real, fake, prototype?

Hello all, I recently aquired this belt buckle, I cant find any other like it. I have recieved feedback that it is fake, other comments that it's a prototype, I just want to know if anyone has ever seen one like this before and who the maker is. I am thinking Martin Winters and its stamped MW, others have said assmann prototype which makes no sense to me.

Is the front piece and back made from differnt types of metal? or is that just the finish?
