Most of these people are passing away. We still have some of them among us but very soon we have none of them left... Great photo!

Yes, the grandparents on my mother´s side are still alive, (both, aged 96).

They´re coming from Latvia, (Riga), and they´re telling me a lot of the "old" mother country, the life, they´re lived there, the escape, the war, all the crime, they´re survival and the new beginning in the west ...

I have to respect these people they showed us, how to live a life !

    My condolences to your friend.

It is a very nice clear photo with lots of interesting details for the collector: the early pre war tunic, early cap skull and bayonet knot worn alone.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

    Cheers, Ade.

Great photo! and good eye ADE....i overlooked the lone portapee knot. And i agree, it is very sad that these people are leaving us as there is just so much to learn from there amazing lives. They really have taught us alot and sacrificed alot to form societies ways. Sadly in this modern day alot of people are forgetting the ways of the past. Anyway, beautiful photo...and check out her hat! pretty neat
