    As per the current owner "It looks like someone may have written over the signature but I cannot confirm. Under a loop, you see the ink and indents from a pen. The stamps on the back are for Hitlers birthday, April 20th. The image looks similar to other Heinrich Hoffmann photographs but I cannot confirm.".

    Thoughts on this item? I can see the indents in the middle of the signature from this supposed pen indentation, but definitely looks overwritten in marker at the same time.

    A poor attempt at faking it.

    Even if it was an original it's ruined now..

    It would appear that the faker copied the signature in pencil and then over wrote with a black marker pen. The postcard might be original but fairly cheap. Just an attempt to grab some extra money from the eager, unwary buyer.

    I agree, it does appear that someone did trace and then made a poor attempt to write over the signature..

    Thanks for the analysis. This was in a pile of other paper items I was looking at so I wasn't holding my breath!
