I believe the oldest boy who was a child from Magda's first marriage survived as he served in the Luftwaffe and was a POW in the US at that time-he is shown in other family pictures.

Those are haunting images. If I search for any particular moment in WW2 among a myriad of options that captures everything that was cruel, inhumane, and evil about Nazi Germany, it is not the holocaust in all its terror (which I would not want to marginalize mind you, that's not my point), but what the Goebbels did to their children that I think about. The reason why, is that while it's stomach churning to think of the lives murdered in concentration camps, it's one thing to murder people you don't know. Maybe even easy to murder those you hate. But, it's something on an entirely different level when you can do this to your own children invoking the name of National Socialism. It's sheer demonic madness at a level I can only leave to God to sort out. I don't think a human being can ever comprehend, nor see past this or forgive what was done. But, I hope there's someone out there that can, so that our universe isn't able to let people like Josef and Magda Goebbels have the last word when murdering their own children.
Did he ever comment on what his mother did to his step brother and sisters?
Almost certainly not.
His daughter Gabriele recalled in an interview in 2011 that he had never talked about his mother and stepfather.
Once she had even asked him in youthful innocence - (she was only 14 when Harald Quandt died in an airplane crash) whether he had so many children (five daughters) because Magda Goebbels had killed so many of her own. She was told that this was a subject which was not to be talked about.
If it was even taboo in his closest family, it safe to assume that he never made any public or media statements. Of course, the Quandts - who are Germany's richest family - are known to be rather media-shy.
In any case, Gabriele Quandt had the impression that he still suffered from what had happend to his half-siblings.
Harald Quandt had learned about the fate of the Goebbels family via the BBC news when he was a POW. One of his comrades later recalled that Quandt - who had always been "a man of rigid self-discipline and cool reservedness" - was deeply disturbed for hours.
Thank you very much for that additional information, Andreas...
All I know about the Quandt's is that they're a very wealthy family, owning much of BMW...
I also recall "Der Krieg" being a Tabu-Topic in many of my friends' family households when I was young ....
cheers, Glenn
What is the worse crime I ponder, putting ones own children to death or willingly being part of a machine that put over a million other people's children to death
It gives me goose bumps even thinking about it
Goebbels last words before dismissing Rochus Misch: "We knew how to live, we will also know how to die...you may go now"...

That's great info HP, very much appreciated. I suppose it's not the kind of thing a person talks about. I'm sure it's something they forever live with though, which it sounds like is the case here.
