Interesting photo, nearly all decorated, EKII, wound badges etc. Hitler kept 300-500000 troops occupying Norway, what a difference they would have made in France a couple of months after this was taken.
I can't work out what other awards a couple of the are wearing GAB's? Stewy S
Nice photo I reckon the are allgemeine sturmabzeichen. Most likely these guys previously served in the East? Nice posting for them to spent Easter in Norway. I wonder if they got to stay there....
Cheers, Ade.
Yep they look like allgemeine sturmabzeichen , they look like a bunch of combat vets who are very happy to be " holidaying " in Norwegen !!!

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

I wonder if a Tank destruction badge could have been won in Norway? Did the Brits send tanks over there?

I reckon it may've been won in Russia, possibly Finland. Stewy S
Hi Nick, the badge was instituted on March 9th 1942. It was back dated to the start of the Russian Campaign to reward men who had destroyed a tank.
Earlier than this, men who destroyed a tank single handed were awarded an Allgemeine Sturmabzeichen.
Cheers, Ade.
