Article about: hi all , i have a ww2 cigarette case , need some thoughts on the possibility of this really being ww2 german, i know these are faked , but any people out there who know about these could you

    hi all , i have a ww2 cigarette case , need some thoughts on the possibility of this really being ww2 german,
    i know these are faked , but any people out there who know about these could you please put your input in please love for this to be genuine but i know its hard to tell

    The case is dated August 6th 1941. As far as I know, on that date the battle of Kiev had not finished yet and the battle of Rostov-on-Don had not started yet. In my view, the date and name could be real and the rest is humbug added later.

    Looks like classic electro pencil engraving onto an old case. I would pass on it myself.

    Yes sadly another cig case engraved to make it look like something it isn't ..

    Apart from mentioning a battle that had not taken place yet, another issue I see is the use of the post WW2 Ukrainian name of Ternopil for the city until then known as Tarnopol.

    oops, someone didn't do their homework. Old watches, cigarettle cases, spirit flasks, anything old from the early 20th century and someone will put a fake inscription on it to make a quick buck.
