Taken from a dead German soldier in Normandy by a Canadian soldier in June 1944.
The ring is very well made, while the engraving is not so well done. It is made of steel.
Cheers, Ade.

Hi Adrian.Nice and original period piece.I have seen many rings from this kind of metal-from archeology, some of them i found personaly in attics, many i saw when i took the part in german soldiers reburial (lover part of ring the same, just different tops:initials, krim, rifles, flovers, tank, svastika,pa lm tree ect).My opinion these rings are SOLDIERS TRENCH ART.JUST SOME soldiers had profesional skills to make those rings.
Trench art ring, well made and good looking.
Ostlanddigger has surely great referencs. Good digging sources there!!
