Hi Bob, it is a Soviet "BT 7" fast tank. Some nice info about it here:
Engines of the Red Army in WW2 - BT-7 Model 1935 Fast Tank
Cheers, Ade.
Thanks for the info Ade!
It is a nice pic. Any idea when it dates from? I would say 1941 invasion era, but sometimes you see pics of German Pz crews in Poland in 1939 looking at their then current Soviet allies vehicles. Here is a nice shot from Poland 1939 which shows the then co-operation between the two powers. The Soviet crewman of this armoured car does not look that happy about it though.
Cheers, Ade.
It's one of Greg's. He stated 1937-39, but I think that was only a guess, because he didn't know it was a Russki tank. (neither did I) I think that Panzer guy would like to drop a hand grenade down the hatch!
This is Russian BT5 or BT7 tank, rather BT5. BT means Bystrohodnyy Tank(Fastrunning Tank). It was made on Christie's concept undercarriage. This tank can ride also only on the wheels (without tracks) with speed of 90 km/h. I saw a picture from Lwow captioned in September 1939 by Russians, with BT5 on the wheels running on the street. This tank was constructed for "missions" west of Russia, as there were not to many good roads to ride without tracks.
