great photos... i had the German soldier with the U.S.Army colt 45 ... & driving the US Jeep
Great stuff!! Here's a photo of an American G.I. on a German Motorcycle, in front of a DAF flag, and wearing a German helmet.
Thanks Dimas, as these are really interesting to see.
Cheers, Ade.
I found the jeep they stole
Second picture is just a posing soldier, I did not think GI really reissued German helmets, and the pictures with the jeep- it looks like two US POWs on the back of the jeep, and jeep is just a captured

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

It also looks like an Enfield buttplate in the carrier on the hood.

Interesting to see these photos. It suprises me that soldiers would wear them for anything more than posing for photos though- to me, the most distinctive element of a german soldier's appearance was the stahlhelm, and I would have thought it would be way too much of a risk to wear one. It seems like a friendly-fire hazard. They definitely stand out, I've always loved the design.
