Are you sure? Ahh well, that's a shame. Seems like I have to keep looking then.
-
Is there a 5 digit number stamped into the inside rear of the helmet?
-
-
Are there any ink stamps on the inside?
Like this? Mine is a 1957 made Ssh40 the serial number is in between the 2 stamps visible.

They are usually 5 digit in the 50s produced lids.
Edit, war time shells too.

Liner and chinstrap is typical for early postwar helmets. Mine was from '48 and I regret that I sold it.

There doesn't seem to be any stamps, unfortunately. Thanks for the answers! I think it was made in the late 40's.

Right that number is hard to make out, but if the 2nd and 3rd digits are 44 it looks like it might be a wartime produced shell. 1942 produced lids would have a steel lot number of 4481.
