Hello Marcel,
The markings, if authentic, are good for the prewar time. The date is 1940.
I am not 100% sure of this one, it's a difficult theme. If you don't trust the source, check 5 or 6 times before to get it.
Maybe this source can send better pictures? These are not the best.
Best regards
Gabriele

Thanks a lot Gabriele! The seller is a dealer/friend who is specialised in Third Reich militaria. He's a very reliable guy but I will ask better pics, especially from the date stamp. I can't see 1940 to be honest. Thanks so far, it is much appreciated.

I have a good Ushanka from the same factory. Similar stamp and date.
No sweat band; i'm not sure if the absence was a post 1941 economy measure or not.
All the materials look right. If the price was right, I'd be tempted by this one.

I don't know the price. He has not listed it on his website yet since he wasn't sure if this would be a good pilotka. I am tempted yes though I usually prefer to have worn and used items and I feel this is an unissued stock item. So yes, if the price is right I'll grab it. Thanks again for your help!

Hi Marcel,
If you view the image the other way up, you can see the date..
Personally, I agree with you about the lesser desirability of an unissued item, but they too have a historical interest.

Thanks a lot. I indeed see the 1940 date. Much appreciated!

Quite similar indeed though the one I've shown has no star. Stamps are similar and fabric also seems similar.
