Ssch39 or 40?

Hi

Can anyone help me a bit with figuring out if this is an Ssch 39 or 40 please? There is no ink stamp remaining or liner, sorry the pics are not up to spec.
There are 3 small rivets, each holding a "T" shaped alloy bracket, the chinstrap is in poor condition, but is the webbing type. The paint seems original.

Hi, nice to see you have made your first post here Welcome!

The helmet is an Ssch39, not a 40. The easy way to tell is the placement of the liner rivets. If they are set high up the shell, like this, it is a 39. The 40 has them set about 2 inches lower.

SSch 39, laterly re-issued and the liner reattached as for SSch -40, very rare issue.

Many thanks guys, much obliged! was between a rock and a hard place trying to figure out what I had (though more by luck than judgement) Guess Ill have to find a 40 now for the collection

Getting the hang of this forum thing at last, will post again If I can find anything interesting, Ill try and root out a pic of a T34 in the tank graveyard in Kabul, and the one of the afghan policeman with a Ppsh41.
