Default SSH39 Helmet for sale : red flags ?

    Dear collective wissdom,
for a while I am looking for an original complete wartime Russian SSH39 helmet as I have 2 relic ssh39 in my possession from 'stalingrad front'.
So I wonder if there are red flags here....I read on the forum that you can even buy stamps to mimic the real stars...
The seller asks 895 euro. A nice price but last thing I want is the hapiness about a low price and discovering later on that some items on the helmet are fake..
    Thanks in advance !

Hello, photos are not high resolution, they should be for an helmet of that price. Why don't we see the batch number cold stamp? The size & year stamping seems suspect.
Have a look at World War Helmets for more details:

hello, it doesn't tell me anything good, seems to be a modified VZ53 and this kind of marking is often used on copies.

I agree on it being a postwar Czech fake. Also I’m not certain on this part, but aren’t SSH-39s with a 1939 date stamp all fingered liners made from leather or gralex? I believe the round cloth liner first appeared in 1940. Only authentic exceptions I’ve seen are the few that were refurbished between the Finnish war and WWII, 20+ years ago the guys at Ostfront got their hands on some of them and sold them, along with some refurbished SSh36s also. Is Mike B from Ostfront still on here sometimes? I’d love to hear that story again. Kevin

Yup. Paint over the rust. Not good.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

Thanks everyone for the replies !
I thought I saw no paint over the rust, but it will be my colourblindness (daltonism) that plays tricks with me...
Here is the original url to the helmet for sale, although I know it's only temporary.

I believe it's orginal, but the red star has been re-painted. Red part enhanced on top of original washed off star.
Especially lower right part is newly painted.

Rust-line follows the decal corners. Pic from website.

Another way to determine the authenticity of a 1939-dated shell is have the seller send you a picture of the distance between the brim and table surface. 1939 and early 1940 should be 1.5 inches or 4cm. Starting in mid-1940 should be 1 inch or 2.5 cm. The one in this post looks too low to me.
