Hi Guys
I read somewhere that wartime production Ssch 39s and 40s have a small star stamped onto the helmet peak, could anyone confirm or deny this please?
With thanks in anticipation

It is a common feature, but not universal. It is visible on most all Ssh40 helmets and most all Ssh39s mass produced at LMZ once the liner type was standardized. However, Ssh39 made from 1939-1940 more often do not have the mark. Also, the mark is not found in ZKO made Ssh-39 with the standardized liner. I think the mark can also be found in helmets completed early postwar from wartime components as well. The mark is nice to find, but is not definitive.
Thanks Michael, much obliged for the info on that.

The star also seen on the postwar helmets.

Thanks for the info Paul and Dimas, does the star actually mean anything?
