Re: What kind of Helmet is this?
Post war 1938 model, to me.
I think 1 stands for the size and the 1852 could be 1952 the year of production.
But I am no expert.

Re: What kind of Helmet is this?
Thank-you stuka f for the advice but that number engraved inside the helmet is defitinly 1--1852. and do you mean pre war 1938?

Re: What kind of Helmet is this?
Hello Camry,
A couple of pic's of the stamps would clarify matters a lot. Personally I have never heard of a M38 Soviet helmet. The M36, M39, M40 etc are well known models.
This helmet (M40) looks too well preserved to have seen action.
Have a look at the following link. It might give you some good info!
RUSO 40
Cheers,
Emile

Re: What kind of Helmet is this?
This is a normal SSCH 40 or M 40, that is not a Schwartz helmet
IMHO the Schwarz name is a kind of fantasy, no any archive information about that was found.
Your helmet is a post war example
SSch translated from a Russian СШ- Стальной шлем Stalynoi Schlem
