Asking for help identifying Heer Buckle

This was a gift from a WWII veteran in the 10th Mountain Division and acquired these in Africa, 1945.

Beyond understanding they are mad from steel (and later aluminum) they are known a field buckle or Koppelschloss.

The leather tag does read 1941 (sorry for the terrible photo). I can add some chalk to bring out the imbeded writing if needed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nice original buckle. The steel buckles were the war time buckles. Aluminum were mostly pre war.
