I picked up a fairly nice buckle marked ESL 42. I have seen these noted as a M4/19 but I am not finding that marking anywhere. Other examples on the in this forum also indicate M4/19 Ernst Schneider, Lüdenscheid but I did not find a marking on those either. I would have thought in 42 all these would have the RZM code stamped on them. Please let me know what I am missing. All opinions are welcome. Thank you for looking.

That is the correct marking for Ernst Schneider, Ludenscheid I don't think the Heer buckles had any RZM markings at all, there are a few exceptions that are rare though.. G

M4/19 was their contract / license number that is usually referenced to by buckle collectors.

Nice original Heer buckle from ESL. As Gwar mentions, Heer buckles were not RZM marked. The exception is the M4/44 Paul Cramer buckle. Here is my example for reference:

Thanks John. And the prices on these M4/44 Heer buckles are all over the place, usually on the high side. They are not so common but do pop up for sale.
