Came with scores of hand-written correspondence from an RK recipient to an American Colonel, and are even mentioned in the correspondence. My suspicion is that the vet was including repros to those he wrote with without telling people as much...not unheard of. I recall reading one German vet bragged about how many fake sets of his awards he sold

I certainly wouldn't write them off, they look good from where I sit, possibly just mint un-issued and souvenired before they could be added to a visor cap....

Better close ups of the insignia would assist with further comment....

My two cents is that I’ve become convinced over time that this eagle variant is a reproduction.

I would agree that the eagle is a reproduction, have seen many of these with the back stitching like this. The other I’m not sure. Not one for my collection personally

I must admit that the back worried me on the eagle, and I bow to those with more experience on these than I.

    I still like the wings/cockade though !!

Oh my goodness, Bob - you are way too kind! I don't have nearly the experience that you do, my friend.

Honestly, these things are really subjective in my opinion. But it’s good to talk about this stuff openly. There are features in this particular eagle variant that are lacking and short-cutted. And, they are everywhere. I just think they are bad and would not buy them in singles or on a cap.

I agree with you that the cockade looks good. Although others may disagree.

No change from my perspective: repro eagle, good wreath.
