I can't say I have ever seen such color and construction! They both look quite cheesy. Wait for other responses but these look quite bad. Neil
Hello,
The top Afrikakorps cufftitle is a piece made by "Patch King" this company used to make patches for WWI veterans and then ended up getting government contracts to make patches during WWII. The uneven cheese cloth and felt construction are major tells for his patches. He was making reproduction German patches before the war ended.

Thanks for info, more confused than ever now! If they were making patches under govt contract during ww2 then it would be a original TR item wouldnt it? Are you saying it has post war manufacturing characteristics of the original wartime company? Sorry to labourthe point, just a clearer understanding sought!
Hello,
Patch King is a US Company!!!
Fred
Ha...didnt know that!.thanks for the laugh!
hello,
Patch King is a US based company that started making patches US veterans of WWI. There are tons of them on the market yet today. They also recieved contracts from the US government for unit patches in WWII. They have distinctive gauze/cheesecloth backing and are usually made out of felt. These are examples of WWII contract pieces.
Fred
These look familiar now. I'm sure as a teen I purchased a couple of these through catalogs in the 1970s. Neil
