    Hello,

Luftwaffe belts were more lighter tan than Heer ones. They came in a multitude of shades.

    Hello Jock,

No question is stupid if you don't know the answer to it. Luftwaffe web fieldgear is generally lighter in comparison to Heer fieldgear. The Luftwaffe also had blue web equipment too that went with the blue lightweight uniform!!

Here is a picture, not a very good one, from the bookGERMAN COMBAT EQUIPMENT 1939-45 written by forum member Jean-Philippe Borg that shows some differences in manufacture and color of tropical and late war belts.

    Late to the party...again....
Fred's correct. Olive webbing was first introduced in 1940 with the initial production of tropical belts. These were then superseded in 1941 with the tan/brown webbing we see most commonly in so many shades. Early olive webbed belts have various edge re-enforcements while all retain the slotted olive webbed tongue. The introduction of Tan/brown shaded webbing also saw the use of leather tongue, webbing tongue's with machine sewn holes and even a riveted version. Light tan is associated with the LW units that wore them, and a yellow tan is associated with KM webbed belts. Most of my belt sets came from North Africa with NZ veterans, while my one leather belt with tropical buckle may have come from Italy.
I've attached an image of some of them.
    Regards from New Zealand,
    Mark.
