German red cross?

A friend of mine offered this to me. It comes with the pants. The only tag on the pants is a real small tag with a red 44 in it. Not sure what to make of it. I don't know much about the red cross stuff, he doesn't either really. Not sure what to make of it, I have probably seen one before but never paid much attention to it. thoughts?
He brought it to the gun show. I couldn't take more pics. It is highly frowned on.

no the tag on the pants was sewn into the seam toward the bottom of the leg, it was a quarter of the size of my pinky nail maybe (the tag) and in red was simply 44

It all depends on how much you want it, TR Red Cross is a niche market in the collectors community. And a sports shirt isn’t as interesting as a service tunic.
