    Hi Downeast:
I believe the 135 on the shoulder boards are for the Regiment.
Regt. 135 was part of the 45th Inf. Div. out of Linz, Austria (Wehrkreis XVII)
    Formed in 1938
    Campaigned in Poland 1939
May 1940 Campaigned in the West
June 1941 Eastern Front, Central Sector
Summer 1943, took part in the Kursk offensive
Autumn 1943, engaged in the defense of Sozh
July 1944 Suffered heavy losses during early part of the Soviet summer offensive
Oct. 1944, Reorganized (32 wave) at Dollersheim manuever area, Wehrkreos VII, as
    a Volksgrenadier Div.
Autumn 1944, Reappeared on the Eastern Front, Central Sector
Jan 1945, Engaged in the Warsaw area.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi Downeast,
For answers to questions such as yours, try Lexikon der Wehrmacht, its in German but a google translate does a fair job of translation. Its the best reference source for German military units that i've found so far.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

We need to know the colour of the waffenfarbe piping before telling you what unit it was from.

I, and I am sure others, would love to see your tunic.

    Cheers, Ade.

The shoulder boards, collar and sleeve insignia are all silver in color and the trim around the collar, sleeves, and along the front is white. I will post pics as soon as I can figure this system out.

White waffenfarbe is mainly used for the Infantry.

See the tech forum at the top of the board for posting advice.

    Cheers, Ade.

    That is fine.

We can now confirm it is for a Lt. in Inf Regt 135.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks Ade and thank you all. On another thread, uploaded photos of a German military I.D. that came from the same footlocker. I was hoping the owner of this tunic and the I.D. were one and the same but I have my doubts.

    Very Best,
    Downeast
