Help w/ Restoring Brestadler on Kriegsmarine Officer jacket

I have acquired this Technical Officers jacket and would like to restore it to its original look. It is missing the breast eagle but do not see the stitch marks where the eagle would have been placed. Instead it looks like a stitched up pocket 4.25 inches long. I was informed that a silver bullion breast eagle would be appropriate for this jacket. Since there is no stitched outline of the breast eagle, was it a pin-on type?Attachment 1106638
