I noticed that many of these side caps have different liners. Was that due to different manufacturers? There are some examples on TRD with more beige interiors: German WWII Luftwaffe Side Cap – The Ruptured Duck, LLC

Your are mostly correct. Different manufacturers had different chains of supply that would result in fabric being sourced from different places. Furthermore, as the war continued, the Germans transitioned more to using synthetic lining materials (rayon mostly) for caps and uniforms. I’m willing to be that the cap you found is mid/late war manufactured
