Hi,
the GDR Betriebsnummer has nothing to do with the Reichsbetriebsnummer.
Even though there are similarities it is a completely new system that was introduced in eastern Germany shortly after WW2 ended.
It is made of 3 number blocks. The first one depicts the branch of the economy. The second one is a district code and the third one a serial number for the company.
On your example for as much as I know:
38 - fabrication of metal and iron goods
369 - most likely number of the district Schwarzenberg (other companies located in Schwarzenberg had the same district code), the city Beierfeld was also part of that district.
0106 - exact company unknown to me
Cheers,
Marco

Hi all,
can any of the experts in this field answer my question? Why does the RB. number on this label not correspond to the usual standard? The label is 100% original and factory sewn by machine.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Sergey
Hi Sergey,
I dont think this is a Rb. number. Perhaps these trousers were used in another country after the war. I collected German LW militaria about 30 years and I have never seen such a number! And the German abbreviation for number is Nr.!
Best regards
Hello Maulschleife,
thanks for your comment. I'm sorry but I don't agree. And here are my arguments: These LW pants are 100% original from WW2 period. The label is sewn at the factory during the sewing process of the pants. This is evidenced by the fact that the label is sewn on by machine, but not through and through. And therefore the label and number on it are also from the WW2 period.
Looking at this number, I can only assume that the correct spelling of the number should have looked like this: RB-Nr. 0/0250/0207 IMHO. But unfortunately, by this RB number you can only determine the District code. Why on this label the number looks like this, I can’t understand yet. Just because we haven't seen it in years doesn't mean it didn't happen.
I hope to sort this out over time.
Best regards,
Sergey
I have similar pants with correctly displayed RB number. But unfortunately, only the District Code can be determined by this RB number: 0/0250/2531
Please note that the number is in the same place as the label on the previous LW pants.
Best regards,
Sergey
