Uniform identification

Can anybody help with what branch this uniform is from?

These are Heer [Army] uniforms.

The first photo shows the dress uniform with the Waffenrock [dress tunic] and service cap, the second one the field uniform with the Feldbluse [field blouse] and field cap.

Branch color (as displayed by the collar patches and pipings in the first photo and the Soutache in the second one) is white for infantry.

The sleeve rank badge in the second photo is for the rank of Oberschütze.

Double Litzen on a branch-colored (in this case, white) patch.

Sorry not collar i meant shoulder boards.
See what looks like a symbol in the first photo.

That's a unit cypher. I can't make out what it is.

(In the second photo, the shoulder boards are covered up by cloth loops as a wartime security measure.)

I know he was awarded a Krimshild.If that helps with branch of service.

We already know his branch.

It doesn't help much in terms of his exact unit, as two dozen or so infantry regiments fought in the Crimea.
