Hello.
Please id ? (Trousers)
I'm not in a position to advise on the trousers, but I like the Artillerie Rucksack you show with it.
The trousers were found together with the artillery rucksack.
I’ve tried adjusting and inverting the first image, as it appears to bear the figures ‘45’, but the image is far too contaminated with shadows to see the stamp clearly.
Photographs of ink-stamp markings need to be as flat as possible, to avoid confusing shadow and dark spots. Any chance of some flatter images?
I think that’s a possibility, BlackCat... it’s difficult to be sure which way up it should be!
I am adding additional photos.
Thank you Bentley, that is definitely Cyrillic script, but I have no idea what it means. Over to Kohima and co I think.
I’m pretty certain it’s this way up...
It is some form of Cyrillic, but I don’t think it’s Russian - perhaps, Bulgarian (they invented Cyrillic and the Russians nicked it), or another satellite. It appears to be something along the lines of:
‘1202 - 43’
‘* - P - LKONE*’. (may be YAKONE*)
‘52 - 6’. (which may be a date).
The circular stamp, with 43 inside, almost puts me in mind of the markings typically found in Indian-made garments!
I suspect this is probably a size or inspector stamp.
