Aussie MKII 1941

Hi Guys,

This one arrived today, my first Commonwealth WW2 lid from my home country.
Don't know why it took me so long to pick one up, but glad I finally did.
It has a sand textured overpaint on top of the factory paint, with a couple of dings, scrapes, and a touch of surface rust
in places where no paint remains.
Shell stamped with steel batch # CS 392, chinstrap lugs stamped 1941 MKIII
Chinstrap appears to have 1 broken spring in each side, as I can feel a gap through the cloth outer covering.

Nice helmet mate, it looks great. I had a nice sand covered helmet like this when I was a kid, dad paid $1.10 for it and reckoned he got ripped off!lol

The service designation is 'Helmet No.1 Mk II'-as for the value of these many years ago, this is one that was sold as a novelty item at the Perth Royal Ag Soc Show in the early 70s for $4 or 5-helmets that were in better original nick were slightly more expensive but the funky resprays were more popular with the kids.

I agree, these are getting harder to find and a lot more pricey.
I paid more than I had expected when bidding for it, and got buyers remorse as soon as I won it.
That soon went away when I opened the box

Nice find mate, ive been after an Aussie lid myself for years, not easy to find and when you do they cost an arm and a leg.
