I think green and yellow is for reconnaissance.
Yes that makes sense the 43rd division is a reconnaissance regiment.
Many thanks !
Looks really nice. Any chance of some more photos ?
Wow, that's nice !
Yes I was very happy to get this one.
And glad to finally know what this flash is.
Either flash is quite rare, both even more so.
Not sure the net and hessian are original to the helmet though.
The "Dragon-like" flash is the Wessex Wyvern a symbol of several counties in the south west of England was still used by 43 Inf (Wessex Bde) a reserve formation until disbanded in 2014. It was the cap badge of the Wessex Regiment (a reserve unit) until 1995.
Regards
Mark

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
When looking further, I found the battle order of the 43rd infantry division:
https://www.dday-overlord.com/en/bat...antry-division
It had indeed a reconnaissance regiment, the 43rd regiment - which confused me with the 43rd division: 43rd Reconnaissance Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps. I'll see if I can find more.
Regarding the helmet cover it was found with the helmet. And I don't think it was messed up by some kids.
