British MKII Netted Helmet
Article about: Hi All, This was an estate sale find a couple weeks ago. I'm unfamiliar with these, but believe it's a British MKII Helmet. Any thoughts or info would be greatly appreciated. Does everything

I would need closer pictures of the outside paint, but think it has been repainted.
Although there is a stacking mark, most likely net is not original to the helmet.
What date is the helmet?

Thanks, tinlid. Suggestions for someone who is hesitant to take the net off? I thought it seemed like a decent chance this one was legit, which would make me hesitant to mess with it much, but maybe this thing has been assembled.
Sorry, what does "stacking mark" refer to? Is that the liner mark? i.e. "7 1/4 VERO II 1941"
And sorry, how would I know the helmet date? The only marking I've been able to find on the shell is "RO&CO XF", which runs up against the side of the metal plate for the chin strap attaching piece. On top of that metal plate is "II".

Stacking is when the helmets were stacked on top of each other. The marks are caused from the black liner leaving residue on the helmet it was sitting on top of

Ah, I see, thanks MAP. I can see the black ring of the stacking mark very clearly on the paint. I guess this suggests the net was possibly added later? Not sure if that would tell us anything about the paint itself?
