Default British WW2 steel helmet sizes ?

    Hi,

Were the steel shells of the mark ii helmet (the classis 'tommy' helmet) all the same size even though they might have had different sized liners, or were there different steel shell sizes depending upon the size of the liner ?
Reason for asking is that I have just bought a 1940 helmet with liner size 7 1/4 which way too small so am considering buying a larger (62cm) repro liner to fit my fat head.

    Thanks.

Mk2 helmets were the same size, just the liners were different sizes, making production so much easier. Unlike the German helmet with different shell and liner sizes.
    Size varied on the Mk1 & Mk2 liners from 6, 1/4 - 7, 3/4.

Were the WW2 British paratrooper helmet shells all one size too?

Thanks in advance, much appreciated. PY.

Most likely, as the HSDR was in two sizes, normal & large.
    6 1/4 - 7 1/4 liners for normal sizes helmets, 7 1/2 - 7 3/4 for the large.

Thanks for the info. Have ordered a repro liner in correct size so hope my big head does not expand in the heat.
