It is the standard British Brodie patent stamp.

It reads " BRODIE'S STEEL HELMET, REGISTRATION No 652,800, WAR OFFICE PATTERN, PATENT No 11803/16"

No cheating ! It is the same stamp that was applied to every British Brodie from early 1916 till the end of WW1. On the very earliest Brodies the stamp read "PATENT APPLIED FOR".
American made Brodies had their own stamps.
