Help needed with insignia MkII

I have a MKII helmet from 1939 with some traces of an insignia. Does anybody know how this insignia looked like?

Hi,
It's not much to go on, best bet is to look at regimental badges with that white stripe going from top left to bottom.
It could be one of the Scottish tartans, the Kings own Scottish Borderers has a white stripe that goes the same way, but it could also be a number of other ones as well.
