Article about: So I've just won this on EvilBay, and I'm wondering what the orange shield on the front is for-presumably a Zone of Command, but which one? Anybody?

    Come on, I know somebody knows something. At least tell me if it's actually Irish or not!

    have you not checked in the liner for any clovers or gold coins?

    Yes it's Irish army. The paint colour is rather unique. They actually painted vehicles and aircraft in that colour too. It's quite effective in the Irish countryside.

    The badge is for the Southern Command/1st Brigade although it's missing it's symbol which I think is a pike head. These were in use right up into the eighties by the reservists although the last repaint was probably back in the sixties. I have one myself in Eastern command colours and I wore one as a reservist myself. Should have nicked it when I had a chance.
