Mk1*

Article about: A bit battered & bruised, but this Mk1* looks to be an early one. Rimless, Mk1 liner dated 1937 & made by HELMETS Ltd, being the first year they made Mk1 liners. Mk1 chin strap lugs

Nothing like a bit of sagginess, especially at our age.

My only example ,stills retains the chinstrap albeit dyed black and believed to have seen use with the home guard ..I would love to know what is under that top coat as i can see a definitive banding around the domes circumferance .Sorry for watering down the thread with the modern lid aside but was the only pictures i could find to hand Mk1*Mk1*Mk1*Mk1*

Just received this today, a well used Mk1*, 1939 dated lugs, shell marked BS 3 (I'm guessing here, see photo), found in Normandy and sold as a Belgian issued helmet because of the flashes, though I have seen several of this type/size/colour, as REME issue ? I have counted at least 4x layers of paint, 2x smooth through to a sand textured and then another green over this.

Not an expert on the Brigade Piron flash/Belgium flag post war used, but interesting to see an helmet used in WW1, WW2 and after.
