Article about: To kick this of, my favorite mkII. Liner is Teddy Toy company and the shell is Joseph Sankey & Sons and both are dated 1940. The hand painted serial number matches one from the block of

Hi Tinhat,
I bet he served in WW1 & kept his helmet, being to old to join up in WW2 decided to join the ARP using his old helmet. Really nice.

Hi Mark, The British refurbished the Mk2 in the early 50's with a heavy texture like yours, Taka, both liner are British, one is just post war. With the number of different makers of liners there was some difference in the lace used.

Thanks Aaron you and I have had this discussion previously about this same helmet some time ago I am rather curious about it I wonder if some one just took what components they had and through them together or what it's history is ?

Could be a thrown together one,over the years you do see some very odd things, but you never know.

Quite an uncommon set of initials and surname, so good possibility of it being Cambridge educated, WW1 Captain (Quartermaster) Charles Edward Wilkin Coe, RAMC. He died in Cambridge, 1947, aged 67.
Thanks for the info Tom, if i remember righlty I picked this up in the Cambridgeshire area, and everyhting else fits.
