Kind of tragic in a way!!
I remember if I would have been in that outfit, at that age, it would have been for a carnival party or for a game....

Speaking of hoping that a kid made it out alive...

I recently was introduced to a Korean War vet. I had dinner with him and he spoke about his experience. He said a young Korean boy would come into their camp and the soldiers would treat him to chocolate, chewing gum, or just food and warm clothing in general. The vet said that the boy really loved being around the soldiers and seeing all their wonderous gear, vehicles, etc.

The vet took a liking to him and tried to look out for the boy. One day the boy asked to hold the vet's rifle, so he took out the mag of his carbine and handed it to him. The boy posed for this picture:

Unfortunately, the vet moved out from that camp soon after and never saw the boy ever again. The vet said he didn't even know the boy's real name... everyone in camp called him "George". The vet said to this day he still loses sleep at night while wondering what ever happened to "George." The vet fears that he stepped on a mine or was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time...

Here is a picture of the M1 Carbine that "George" posed with. The vet brought the rifle home with him from Korea and he said he hasn't fired it since his service in the Korean War.
