I've recently seen an unusual helmet for sale in a junk shop.It is a 1938 dated mark two but the chinstrap lugs are the early type and are held on using split rivets ala Brodie style?Worth getting?
No pics sorry!

Is it like this one, these helmets I think were only for use on the home front & might have been privately purchased. The rim join always seems to be on the side, the chin strap lugs are dated 38/39 & are not painted.
Spot on Aaron.Same colour as well. The one i saw had some letters on the front for some factory maybe?also a simple canvas chinstrap, not a sprung type.
Thanks.
