    Default US General's Cap

I recently acquired this US General's Cap as part of a complete uniform. It's a great piece so, despite its post-war vintage, I thought I'd post it.

The uniform consists of the cap, short mess jacket and pants. The jacket bears the May 1959 dated tailor's tag of C. Rong Shing in Yokohama, Japan and the name of Brigadier General B. Harrell.

I'd like to further research the owner. He must have been an officer in WW2.

    Hi Pjm,

I think this may be your man: Ben Harrell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yes, that's him. I've been trying to find more than that basic info.

I did, however, find the blog of the American granddaughter of the tailor and tried unsuccessfully to contact her. Her blog was about her visit to Yokohama and told the story of the grandfather opening the shop after WW2.

The shop still exists and I found the shop's exact address thanks to another web site's to a Japanese dress designer who sells his line through the shop.

MG Ben Harrell commanded the 101st Airborne from June 1960-July 1961. I found these Vietnam ere photos of him.
